A Letter From Amy

Hi friend,

If you’re here, thank you. Whether you’re considering making a change, one of my friends cheering me on, or my mom (hi Mom!), I’m glad you made it this far.

If you’re just getting to know me, it feels important to share a little bit about myself and why I do this work.

One of the biggest turning points in my life was shifting my own relationship with alcohol. At the start of 2023, I ended my marriage and, subsequently, spent a lot of time alone at my house in Joshua Tree. Sitting there with shame, guilt, confusion, and fear. You know, all our old trusty friends who have been there for a while, and all the emotions I used to drink over.

When I finally stopped numbing, all these emotions rose to the surface. And in all that quiet, I was forced to look at each part of myself and ask “Is this True?” As I shed all the parts of my that did not align, my real voice came back.

It was deep work. Like… deep deep work.

On December 28, 2024, I made myself a promise:
I’m shifting my relationship with alcohol gently, compassionately, and on my terms.
Not “never again.” Not perfection. Just… choosing something different.

Then on New Year’s Day at Breakfast of Champions in San Francisco, something in me clicked. I danced out decades of shame and stepped back into my Power.

From that moment, 2025 became my Year of Experiment, offering me permission to try things without any expectations on the outcome.

One of those experiments was building a new relationship with alcohol. Microdosing was part of that process. Not to escape, but to bring a deeper awareness so I could feel more. To understand the roots of my patterns. To create new pathways. To clear the fog. To learn to listen to my body underneath all that numbing.

And slowly, everything started aligning.
I moved back to the Bay. I reconnected with my community again. And I started feeling like myself again. Not because I (mostly) quit drinking, but because I stopped abandoning who I truly was.

California Sober January is the exact container I wish I had during that transition, and a transition I continue to walk and be tested on. This container is a place to pause, reset, listen to yourself, and reconnect with the you underneath the noise without shame, pressure, or labels.

If something in you is whispering that it’s time for a shift…
If you’re tired of waking up foggy or disconnected…
If you’re curious who you are without alcohol calling the shots…
I would be honored to walk this month with you.

We can create the lives we want, and healing is so much easier in community.

With Love,
Karen’s Daughter Amy
